Lost in Funtley

Funtley Walk
The intrepid walkers(that is myself & Jenny) copied directions for a local walk off the web.

Go over the bridge and turn right into a side road
Not far down this road you will see a footpath turning
to the right. Take this path and follow it across the river,
Once you have crossed the river you will find yourself
in the grounds of a cottage. Don't panic! Follow the
footpath round to the left and through a gate. Continue
along this track, through another gate and onto Funtley Road.

Hah, easier said than done.  After forty five minutes we realized Right should have read Left. We asked  for directions from someone we came across leading a horse.  "Which way is the path", he replies "that way" pointing to where we had just come from, "no" we reply, "we just came from there",  "then that way" he announces with some frustration, think he's been thru this before. He's know pointing in the opposite direction toward what appears to be a stable yard.  On we go trying to follow the map but get lost again.  We have a compass, get out the compass I says, like I know what I'm doing.  Did you know no matter how many times you turn with a compass in your hand North is still in the same direction (boy do I feel like an idiot). Oh yes, the map has no North pointer marked on it either.  Need I say more. We still don't know where we are.  How hilarious is that.  We couldn't stop laughing at ourselves.  We finally made it back to the car after what should have been a 1 1/2 hour walk 3 hours later. Great fun. We've decided we fill the description 2 silly old biddy's. No comments on that please.  And no we didn't have a drink before starting the walk.
Start and Finish at a Pub
It says Over the bridge and turn Right

Neat old railway line.

We found the river, Yay!!!!!

Uhm, stile in the middle of the path, no fence around it.  (Blazing Saddles!!!)

Westfield Shopping Centre

 WE

Missy & Prue are going to meet her friend for some baby talk, leaving me in the middle of the biggest Mall in England, what to do, what to do!
STFIELD SHOPPING CENTRE
Supposedly the biggest mall in England. In the Shepherds Bush area, where I used to live many years ago.  Didn't recognize the old place.
The Village area of Westfield London is home to global premium brands including Burberry, Dior, Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Miu Miu as well as Prada, Salvatore Ferragamo and Versace.  Now where is Ron's American Express card.  Only in emergencies, I think this rates as an emergency.

This store you went in sat down and they brought everything  to you for your viewing.

Lounging area

This was taken by a very nice Italian security person dressed in a suite who requested I not take photos in the designer area,
oooooohh very proud of their stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fun day we're heading home.

The only think I ended up buying was an iced skinny latte at Starbucks.  No I didn't use the American Express.  Great fun!

Cornish Cream Tea
Visited my sister for a few days in Newquay, Cornwall in Southwest England.  Got a great deal at one of the older hotels in town because it was out of season.  It had an indoor bowling alley, indoor swimming pool,  outdoor swimming pool, (definitely too cold to swim) large bar and restaurants, my sister described it exactly as faded elegance.  At one time it must've have been a posh hotel.  Now it's shabby chicque.  My room was small but then it was only me and I had a balcony.  It overlooked the Gannel an inlet river,  when the tide is in lots of water, when the tide is out a great place to walk the dog, which by the everyone in England seems to do.  My main challenge was figuring out the use of the hairdryer.  English bathrooms have no outlets for hairdryers. Something to do with high voltage used and possible accidents.  The hairdryer was hanging on the wall by the closet.  After doing what I thought was the right steps, plug in hairdryer, switch on outlet, switch on hairdryer, nothing happens.  Pondering the problem I turn on the light to go in the bathroom and the hairdryer turns on!!!  Love it.  Full English breakfast every morning and cream teas in the afternoon, yum yum.  I needed all the walking I could do.  Good job I don't live here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bosham

Local pub
This is the road when the tide is out
Thursday spent the day at Bosham (pronounced Bozzum).  Qiaint English fishing village.  It's not very big but really beautiful.  There's a saxon church that has been modified throughout the centuries.  Very interesting.  King Canute who became King of a united England in 1016 also would stay here.  His 8yr old daughter drowned in a nearby river and was buried inside the church.  The church was amazing.  The local pass time is watching cars parked on a frontage road along the waters edge which floods at high tide and has large signs stating this, but somehow tourist miss the signs are choose to ignore them. So the bet is laid whether the owner will return before the car is flooded. Lots of quaint houses, very expensive houses. One of the smallest there sold for over 1 million pounds.  Great day.

Rickmansworth.

Nana, Mum, daughter day out in Rickmansworth.  A posh village near London.  The weather is wonderful, so we head to the Aquadrome, a local nature reserve & park.  As with most of these places they have a cafe to get a variety of English delicacies, cream  tea (scones with jam, clotted cream and a pot of tea), hot cross bun, toasted tea cake etc.  If in the mood you can also purchase a glass of wine or a bottle of beer.  The Brits like their alcohol where ever they go.  We opted for coffee, then a walk around the lake.  It wouldn't be an English day out without a pub lunch so we found this old world pub in Rickmanswoth with great food.  Check out the pics out back of the pub. Ron would love it each table had two warm fuzzy blankets to use if you got cold.  Right up Ron's alley.  Max would've been happy with the giant size game of Connect 4. English lifestyle at it's best.

where's my drink Mum?

South bank

Had a day out in London, amazing weather, where's the rain?  London is supposed to be wet and miserable. Started at Waterloo Station and walked along the South Bank of  the Thames.  I could see the London Eye, Houses of Parliament.  The south bank is full of Buskers (street entertainers).  The place is teaming with tourists, (me not included), all thoroughly enjoying the weather and the entertainers, in some cases being surprised by them, a statue of a gorilla suddenly moves when someone walks by, or the table that appears to have a monkey on it inside a basket, (which is actually someone in makeup with just his head thru the table) makes a loud monkey noise to an unsuspecting tourest.  I sat on a bench overlooking the Thames soaking up the fun, action, scenery and did some people watching.  Great weather as well.

A person with his head stuck thru the table. Made people jump.
